摘要：In this talk, I will describe observations and research activities in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere, conducted at the University of Illinois and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  The observations were made from ground-based remote sensing instruments, that include a Na wind/temperature lidar, an all sky airglow imager and a meteor radar at three different locations.  Several research topics investigated with data from these instruments will presented.  These include gravity wave propagation, wave-related variability, atmospheric instabilities, vertical transport, and gravity wave-tide interactions.  Finally I will describe the Andes Lidar Observatory located in Chile, where these instruments are currently operating.
